Gary Skop
Founding Partner
Gary has been studying and practicing tax law since he was just 15 years old. As an Enrolled Agent, Accredited Tax Advisor, and Accredited Tax Preparer, his depth of knowledge and decades of experience are the backbone of AFS Taxsavers. Gary has served as President of the Independent Accountants Association of Michigan and is currently a board member of the Michigan Society of Enrolled Agents. He also teaches Continuing Education Seminars for the University of Michigan, the Michigan Society of Enrolled Agents, and other professional organizations.
Karen Skop
Partner & Office Manager
Karen joined AFS Taxsavers as a partner in 1996 and has been the heart of daily operations ever since. She manages accounts payable, human resources, and ensures the office runs seamlessly through even the busiest tax seasons. Karen believes the key to their success lies in hard work and treating every client with a personal touch. Outside the office, she enjoys time at her happy place — The Cedar Moose Lodge — and is thrilled to take on her favorite new role as “Mimi.”
Lynne Bain
Partner
A graduate of Madonna University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Lynne became a partner in 1994 after years of dedication to the firm. As a Registered Tax Return Preparer, she leads the accounting side of the business and takes pride in helping clients uncover valuable deductions during tax season. When she’s not at the office, Lynne enjoys spending time with her German Shepherds, Willow and Max.
Kevin Kaye
Accountant & Tax Preparer
Kevin joined AFS Taxsavers full-time in 2018 after several years of part-time work during tax season. With a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wayne State University, he brings an analytical and personable approach to accounting. In his free time, Kevin enjoys golfing, watching football, and the occasional Xbox session.
Ryan Skop
Tax Preparer
Ryan has been part of the AFS Taxsavers family since 2002. Known for his precision and friendly approach, Ryan focuses on preparing individual and business tax returns. Outside of work, he enjoys hockey, golf, and spending time with his growing family. He and his wife also own a pair of day spas in Mid-Michigan.
The Beginning
Gary Skop and Tom Naida founded Accurate Accounting and Tax Services, working evenings and weekends from their homes. Their commitment to accuracy, integrity, and personal care laid the foundation for what would become AFS Taxsavers.
Growth and Partnership
With the addition of Karen Skop and Lynne Bain as partners, the firm expanded its services and solidified its reputation as a trusted local accounting and tax practice. Multiple mergers and acquisitions followed, helping AFS grow while maintaining its personal touch.

A Long Legacy of Expertise and Personal Care
For over three decades, AFS Taxsavers has helped individuals and businesses across Michigan navigate taxes with confidence. What began as a small practice built on evenings and weekends has grown into one of Livonia’s most trusted accounting and tax firms — known for our accuracy, integrity, and personal attention.
Our story began in 1993 when Gary E. Skop and Tom J. Naida founded Accurate Accounting and Tax Services, Inc. Working from their homes after hours, they built a loyal client base through dedication and a passion for helping people make sense of complex tax laws. Over time, the firm evolved into Accurate Financial Services, Inc. and ultimately became AFS Taxsavers, Inc.
In 1994, Lynne Bain joined as a partner, followed by Karen Skop in 1996 — solidifying the foundation of the firm we know today. Since then, AFS has continued to expand through strategic partnerships, including the acquisitions of Zajac Bookkeeping and Tax Service in 1995, Academy Tax Service in 1996, Taxsavers in 2001, and Master Tax in 2017. Each addition has strengthened our expertise while keeping the personal touch our clients value most.
Today, AFS Taxsavers continues to thrive under the leadership of Gary, Karen, and Lynne, supported by a talented and dedicated team. From tax preparation and accounting to small business consulting, we’re committed to delivering dependable results with honesty and care.
